Once every semester we have the Global Village Event at our university which is for international students to show the Norwegian students their home countries and universities so that they want to go on exchange there.

The Italian exchange students

This year we had the Global Village Event on Wednesday, the 29th of August and Irina, the intern of last semester, María and me where planning the event. We had students from 20 different countries presenting some food and pictures from their home cities and universities. Also some of them had a music box with typical music from their countries or they came in traditional dresses to show how people dress in their countries. It was very interesting to see all the different kind of pictures and to taste the food which was delicious.

Me trying some Italian food. They made tiramisu, bruschetta and "frittata di pasta" which was very delicious.

Everyone prepared such nice food and decorated their table so well. We think that the event was a total success. The Spanish girls had Tortilla, the Swiss group brought some chocolate and the Japanese girls came in a typical dress and prepared some sushi. Also the Russian table was super nice decorated and they had a presentation on their laptop with stunning photos from Russia.

The Germans had some "Schnittchen" which we eat in the afternoon for "Brotzeit", German beer and some sweet popcorn.

From the Chinese group I got a magnet for my fridge because I did well on their quiz.

There where also exchange students from Uganda, France and Indonesia presenting their home countries.

Vrimlehallen, the main hall of the university was full of people

In summary, the day was a success and we hope to see you at the Global Village Event next semester.
